Discover Xiao Yao Zi, a spectacular articulated model kit of approximately 22 cm designed by MJZ Studio. Inspired by the character Xiaoyaozi from the famous Chinese wuxia novel Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils (Tian Long Ba Bu / 天龍八部), this model reinterprets traditional Chinese aesthetics through a particularly original futuristic mechanical design.

The model is distinguished by its elegant combination of white, gray, and gold, associated with instantly recognizable elements of wuxia imagery. Its wide traditional hat, gourd, and the shapes of its equipment are thus integrated into an imposing mechanical armor, creating a visual identity very different from traditional Japanese mechas.

This is indeed a true assembly kit and not a simply pre-assembled figure. Once completed, Xiao Yao Zi measures approximately 22 cm in height and features numerous articulations allowing for dynamic poses.

One of the major features of the kit is its internal metal frame. This adds more weight and stability to the whole while reinforcing the joints, a significant advantage for maintaining poses despite the numerous armor and equipment elements.

The model uses several materials, including ABS, POM, and metal alloy. Its imposing box also contains numerous pieces of equipment to vary configurations and poses after assembly.

Technical Specifications

The MJZ Studio Xiao Yao Zi combines detailed plastic armor with an articulated metal internal structure. This hybrid design provides greater rigidity and allows the model to maintain good stability during the most dynamic poses.

The different layers of armor and visible mechanical elements create a particularly intricate silhouette. Nevertheless, traditional Chinese aesthetics remain at the heart of the design, notably thanks to the hat, the gourd, and the general shapes reminiscent of an itinerant warrior from a wuxia narrative.

Zone Gunpla Tips

The Xiao Yao Zi by MJZ Studio is closer to a premium mecha model kit than a traditional articulated figure. Its metal structure provides weight and a different construction from all-plastic kits, while retaining the pleasure of progressively assembling the armor and various equipment.

The white and gray surfaces, as well as the numerous mechanical lines, lend themselves particularly well to panel lining and small paint touch-ups. However, it is recommended to check the compatibility of the products used with ABS and POM, as some solvents can weaken these plastics.
