HGUC 1/144 - RX-78 GP01 Zephyranthes

The HGUC 1/144 RX-78GP01 Gundam GP01 Zephyranthes is a Bandai Spirits Gunpla from Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. Piloted by Kou Uraki, this experimental mobile suit is the first unit of the Gundam Development Project launched after the One Year War.

This High Grade Universal Century version at 1/144 scale reproduces the original terrestrial configuration of the Gundam GP01. Its white, blue, and red armor uses the traditional Gundam colors while adopting a more technical silhouette, characteristic of prototypes developed at the beginning of Universal Century 0083.

The Zephyranthes design retains several elements inherited from the RX-78-2 Gundam, notably the general structure of the torso, the Shield, and the Beam Sabers. However, its shoulders, legs, backpack, and numerous thrusters give it a more modern appearance, adapted to the expected performance of an experimental mobile suit.

The torso is designed to evoke the horizontal integration of the Core Fighter II within the Core Block System. The kit also includes a separate model of the Core Fighter II, allowing the small aircraft to be displayed independently of the Gundam GP01.

The model's main weapon is a Beam Rifle specially designed for the Zephyranthes. This weapon allows the mobile suit to be displayed in various firing positions and perfectly complements its role as a versatile unit intended for terrestrial engagements.

A 90 mm machine gun is also included. More compact than the Beam Rifle, it offers a second long-range weapon configuration and allows for the reproduction of military combat scenes characteristic of Gundam 0083.

For close-range combat, the kit features Beam Sabers. The large Shield completes its defensive equipment and allows for varied presentations between shooting, frontal protection, and close-quarters dueling.

The color separation reproduces the main hues of the Gundam GP01 right after assembly. The various armor surfaces can then be enhanced with panel lining, markings, or weathering effects to reinforce its appearance as a military prototype.
