The HG 1/144 Strike Freedom Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO Ver. from Bandai Spirits offers a new representation of the legendary ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam as it appears in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM ZERO. Piloted by Kira Yamato, the Strike Freedom holds a central place in this prequel that directly bridges the events of Gundam SEED DESTINY and those of Gundam SEED FREEDOM.

In SEED FREEDOM ZERO, the Strike Freedom Gundam is transferred to the provisional COMPASS base located on Onogoro Island. The goal is to extract data from this exceptional machine to contribute to the development of new Mobile Suits. However, the Strike Freedom is stolen under mysterious circumstances, triggering one of the major events in the story.

The SEED FREEDOM ZERO Strike Freedom in a new HG version

This edition has been specially developed to reproduce the Strike Freedom Gundam as it appears in SEED FREEDOM ZERO. For this model, Bandai Spirits adopts the SEED Action System, a joint design used in recent HGs from the Gundam SEED saga to achieve more natural and dynamic poses.

The kit's structure has also been designed around the iconic poses of the Strike Freedom Gundam. It is intended to make it easier to recreate the highly recognizable gestures of Kira Yamato's machine, particularly during combat scenes using multiple weapons simultaneously.

SEED Action System

The SEED Action System aims to combine a wide range of articulation with the slender silhouette characteristic of Gundam SEED Mobile Suits. For this version of the Strike Freedom, Bandai Spirits specifically announces a structure that allows for the reproduction of the characteristic poses seen on screen.

This evolution is particularly interesting for a machine like the Strike Freedom, whose design relies heavily on aerial poses, wide-open movements, and the simultaneous use of multiple pieces of equipment.

Two Beam Rifles included

The kit includes the two Beam Rifles iconic to the Strike Freedom Gundam. They can be used simultaneously to reproduce its characteristic firing configurations.

The inclusion of both rifles is particularly important for maintaining the visual identity of the ZGMF-X20A, whose combat style relies significantly on the combined use of multiple long-range weapon systems.

Beam Sabers with gradient effect

One of the new features highlighted by Bandai Spirits concerns the Beam Saber effects. These use a gradient molding intended to directly reproduce a color variation within the clear part.

This process adds more depth to the energy blades than a classic monochrome effect and allows for a more spectacular finish without the need for additional paint.

The legendary ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam

The Strike Freedom Gundam is the ultimate evolution of the Freedom line used by Kira Yamato before the arrival of the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II. It is powered by the powerful Hyper-Deuterion system, which combines a nuclear engine with the Deuterion Beam Energy Transfer System.

The machine is most recognizable by its imposing winged dorsal system and its extremely versatile arsenal. Its golden design visible on the internal structure, combined with its white, blue, and red armor, makes it one of the most iconic Mobile Suits in the entire Gundam SEED saga.

This SEED FREEDOM ZERO version thus represents the Strike Freedom during a particularly important period in its history, before the modifications that would later lead to the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II and then the Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam.

An essential version for the SEED FREEDOM timeline

SEED FREEDOM ZERO takes place after the fall of the Destiny Plan and during the period of COMPASS's creation. The Strike Freedom used by Kira during previous conflicts thus becomes a source of data for the development of new machines.

Its role in this story serves as a link between the original ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom and the more recent Mobile Suits seen in Gundam SEED FREEDOM, giving this version special interest for collectors wishing to follow the chronological evolution of Kira Yamato's machines.

About Gunpla and Plamo

Gunpla (Gundam Plastic Model) and Plamo (Plastic Model) refer to the famous Japanese assembly models, which have become an essential reference for model-making enthusiasts, science fiction fans, and Japanese culture aficionados. Popularized by Bandai's Mobile Suit Gundam license, Gunpla now includes hundreds of models inspired by the most emblematic Gundam series, films, and universes.

Beyond Gundam, the world of Plamo brings together many ranges produced by renowned manufacturers such as Bandai, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Wave, and Aoshima. Robots, mechs, characters, creatures, vehicles, or original universes, Japanese model kits offer an assembly experience accessible to both beginners and experienced modelers.

Most modern kits are designed to be assembled without glue thanks to a high-precision snap-fit system. Depending on the range, models can also offer advanced articulation, interchangeable accessories, visual effects, decals, and numerous customization possibilities using paint, panel lining, or modeling tools.

Among the most popular ranges are Gunpla Gundam, the RG (Real Grade), MG (Master Grade), HG (High Grade), PG (Perfect Grade) series, but also the 30 Minutes Missions (30MM), 30 Minutes Fantasy (30MF), Figure-rise Standard, Moderoid, Frame Arms, Hexa Gear, Megami Device universes, and many other references from the world of Plamo.

Whether you're looking for your first Gunpla, a collectible Gundam model, or a more technical Japanese model kit, Plamo is a fascinating hobby that combines construction, creativity, collecting, and display through increasingly detailed and innovative models.

Gunpla & Plamo FAQ

Do you need glue to assemble a Gunpla?

Most modern Gunpla and Plamo are designed to be assembled without glue, thanks to an interlocking parts system.

Should you paint a Gunpla?

No. Bandai kits and most Japanese models are molded in colors close to the final rendering. Painting remains optional.

Which Gunpla should I choose to start with?

HG (High Grade) and Entry Grade lines are generally the most accessible for beginners assembling Gundam models.

What is the difference between HG, RG, MG, and PG?

Grades correspond to the level of detail, size, and complexity of the kit. HGs are the simplest, while PGs represent the most detailed models.

What is a Plamo?

The term Plamo is a contraction of "Plastic Model" in Japan. It encompasses Gundam Gunpla as well as many other models produced by Bandai, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, and other manufacturers.

How long does it take to build a Gunpla?

Depending on the model, assembly can take between one hour for an Entry Grade and several tens of hours for some Master Grade or Perfect Grade models.

What tools are recommended for assembly?

A hobby side cutter, a precision knife, and files or abrasives are the most commonly used tools to achieve a clean result.
