IBO HG 1/144 - Hyakuren

The robust STH-05 Hyakuren joins the High Grade lineup in this 1/144 scale IBO HG version from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Developed by Teiwaz and notably used by the Turbines, this Mobile Suit is distinguished by its massive silhouette, reinforced armor, and a design intended for navigation in environments cluttered with space debris.

Built around the Teiwaz Frame, the Hyakuren adopts heavy armor to better withstand collisions and close-quarters combat. Despite its imposing appearance, it remains versatile enough to alternate between long-range and melee combat.

Its primary weapon is the JEE-201 100 mm Rifle Cannon, a lightweight weapon equipped with a sliding stock. The kit also includes the JEE-202 Single-Edged Blade, a large combat blade that can be stored in its sheath installed on the rear waist.

One of the Hyakuren's most original features lies in its two JEE-203 Knuckle Guards. Integrated directly into the waist's side armor when not in use, they can be removed and then attached to the hands to transform the Mobile Suit into a true melee fighter.

This High Grade version effectively reproduces the thick proportions and very distinctive design of the Hyakuren. Most of the main colors are achieved directly through molded parts, while a sticker sheet allows for completion of certain model details.

Armament and Options

• The 100 mm Rifle Cannon allows for reproduction of long-range combat configurations.

Gunpla Zone Tips

The Hyakuren has a very massive silhouette and significant armor volume. Light panel lining on the large blue surfaces helps to highlight the separations between the different plates without visually weighing down the model.

When removing the Knuckle Guards from the side armor, manipulate them directly at their attachment points to avoid stressing the small connectors.

The industrial and robust design of the Hyakuren lends itself particularly well to a slightly weathered finish. A few traces of wear on the legs, Knuckle Guards, and blade easily enhance its appearance as a unit regularly engaged in combat.
