The NG 1/100 ZGMF-1001/M Blaze Zaku Phantom is a Bandai Gunpla from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. Piloted by Rey Za Burrel, this command unit is distinguished by its white and lavender armor, two shoulder-mounted shields, and its imposing Blaze Wizard installed on its back.

Officially released as a simple 1/100 model, this kit belongs to the generation now commonly referred to as "NG" or "No Grade." It is therefore not a Master Grade, but a large-scale model offering detailed color separation, several articulations, and a particularly elaborate backpack.

The kit reproduces the ZGMF-1001/M ZAKU Phantom variant, a command version of the ZAKU family used by ZAFT. It notably differs from the standard ZAKU Warrior by its two shields installed on the shoulders and its equipment adapted for experienced pilots.

The model features the characteristic colors of Rey Za Burrel's unit. The white, dark gray, lavender, and red parts allow for most of its appearance to be recreated directly after assembly, while a sticker sheet completes the details and markings.

The central element of the kit is the Blaze Wizard, a backpack specializing in high-mobility combat and missile attacks. Its construction uses numerous parts to separately reproduce its thrusters, wings, launchers, and various armor plates.

The different sections of the Blaze Wizard are articulated and can be repositioned around the backpack. The large side wings can be deployed to widen the model's silhouette and create poses evoking acceleration or an aerial attack.

The Blaze Wizard's launchers house the AGM138 Firebee guided missiles. Their panels can be opened to reveal the rows of red missiles and present the Blaze Zaku Phantom in a bombing configuration.

The main armament includes an MMI-M633 Beam Assault Rifle. This weapon can be held by the model in various firing positions and features a characteristic circular magazine installed on its upper part.

An MA-M8 Beam Tomahawk completes the equipment for close combat. It comes with a pink clear Beam effect to reproduce its activation during a combat pose.

The two large shields installed on the shoulders reinforce the massive silhouette of the ZAKU Phantom. Their outer surface incorporates the characteristic spikes of the ZAKU family, and their articulated mounting allows for their orientation to be adjusted according to the position of the arms and backpack.

The shoulders, elbows, waist, knees, and ankles have articulations allowing for varied poses despite the Blaze Wizard's significant volume. The flexible conduits around the waist and legs complete the mechanical appearance of the mobile suit.

A display stand illustrated with Rey Za Burrel is also included. It can be placed next to the assembled model to identify its pilot and complete an exhibition dedicated to ZAFT units or Gundam SEED Destiny.

With its imposing Blaze Wizard, openable missile launchers, and distinctive colors, the NG 1/100 Blaze Zaku Phantom is an interesting model for fans of Gundam SEED Destiny and older, richly equipped 1/100 Gunpla.

About Gunpla and Plamo

Gunpla (Gundam Plastic Model) and Plamo (Plastic Model) refer to the famous Japanese assembly models, which have become an essential reference for model-making enthusiasts, science fiction fans, and Japanese culture aficionados. Popularized by Bandai's Mobile Suit Gundam license, Gunpla now includes hundreds of models inspired by the most emblematic Gundam series, films, and universes.

Beyond Gundam, the world of Plamo brings together many ranges produced by renowned manufacturers such as Bandai, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Wave, and Aoshima. Robots, mechs, characters, creatures, vehicles, or original universes, Japanese model kits offer an assembly experience accessible to both beginners and experienced modelers.

Most modern kits are designed to be assembled without glue thanks to a high-precision snap-fit system. Depending on the range, models can also offer advanced articulation, interchangeable accessories, visual effects, decals, and numerous customization possibilities using paint, panel lining, or modeling tools.

Among the most popular ranges are Gunpla Gundam, the RG (Real Grade), MG (Master Grade), HG (High Grade), PG (Perfect Grade) series, but also the 30 Minutes Missions (30MM), 30 Minutes Fantasy (30MF), Figure-rise Standard, Moderoid, Frame Arms, Hexa Gear, Megami Device universes, and many other references from the world of Plamo.

Whether you're looking for your first Gunpla, a collectible Gundam model, or a more technical Japanese model kit, Plamo is a fascinating hobby that combines construction, creativity, collecting, and display through increasingly detailed and innovative models.

Gunpla & Plamo FAQ

Do you need glue to assemble a Gunpla?

Most modern Gunpla and Plamo are designed to be assembled without glue, thanks to an interlocking parts system.

Should you paint a Gunpla?

No. Bandai kits and most Japanese models are molded in colors close to the final rendering. Painting remains optional.

Which Gunpla should I choose to start with?

HG (High Grade) and Entry Grade lines are generally the most accessible for beginners assembling Gundam models.

What is the difference between HG, RG, MG, and PG?

Grades correspond to the level of detail, size, and complexity of the kit. HGs are the simplest, while PGs represent the most detailed models.

What is a Plamo?

The term Plamo is a contraction of "Plastic Model" in Japan. It encompasses Gundam Gunpla as well as many other models produced by Bandai, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, and other manufacturers.

How long does it take to build a Gunpla?

Depending on the model, assembly can take between one hour for an Entry Grade and several tens of hours for some Master Grade or Perfect Grade models.

What tools are recommended for assembly?

A hobby side cutter, a precision knife, and files or abrasives are the most commonly used tools to achieve a clean result.
