The HG 1/144 XARX-0 Gundam ZERO from Bandai Spirits reproduces the main Mobile Suit from Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO, a new series born from the RG Project that shares its universe with the game GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT. Piloted by Ray Azumi, the Gundam ZERO is a next-generation experimental machine developed specifically to combat the extraterrestrial threat known as Apocalypse.

Bearing the model number XARX-0, the Gundam ZERO belongs to a new generation of Mobile Suits designated as "Gundam." Its design was entrusted to Eiichi Shimizu and is distinguished by a modern, slender, and highly segmented silhouette, designed with a focus on high mobility and particularly fluid movements.

Ray Azumi's personal Mobile Suit

In the universe of XARX-ZERO, the Gundam ZERO is the designated Mobile Suit of Ray Azumi, a young pilot who became an orphan after losing his parents during an Apocalypse attack.

The story takes place in A.A.45, forty-five years after the abandonment of Earth. Humanity now lives primarily on the Moon and in colonies, while silicone-based life forms called Apocalypse continue to pose a permanent threat. The Gundam ZERO was developed as one of the most advanced experimental machines designed to face them.

Articulation developed to replicate the anime's movements

Bandai Spirits particularly highlights the wide range of articulation of the HG Gundam ZERO. The model's structure was designed to replicate the very supple and dynamic movements seen in the first images of the series.

This mobility allows for more natural gestures than a traditional HG, with open combat poses and torso and limb movements adapted to the fast-paced action scenes characteristic of XARX-ZERO.

First use of a 6-color Iropla

The Gundam ZERO also introduces an important innovation in Gunpla manufacturing with the announced use by Bandai Spirits of a six-color Iropla.

This technology makes it possible to reproduce more colors directly from the molded parts and achieve particularly advanced color separation right from assembly. The model can thus render the numerous nuances of its design without requiring a complete paint job.

This approach also allows for maintaining the ease of assembly typical of High Grade kits while offering a particularly polished visual appearance once the model is completed.

Two shields for a unique silhouette

The Gundam ZERO stands out for the presence of two shields. This symmetrical equipment contributes strongly to the Mobile Suit's visual identity and allows for several configurations depending on the chosen poses.

The two shields can be used simultaneously with the main armament to recreate the configurations seen in the series' promotional visuals.

Beam Rifle and Beam Sabers

The arsenal includes a Beam Rifle intended for long-range combat as well as two Beam Sabers for close-quarters engagements.

This combination of equipment allows for the Gundam ZERO to be displayed in various combat situations, from firing poses to close-quarters clashes using both energy sabers simultaneously.

Specific backpack

The kit also includes the Gundam ZERO's characteristic backpack. Its design contributes to the Mobile Suit's rear silhouette and completes its general equipment without visually weighing down its very slender design.

Combined with the two shields and the weaponry, this backpack plays a major role in the XARX-0's unique appearance compared to Gundams from other timelines in the franchise.

Open hands included

Bandai Spirits also provides left and right open hands. These additional parts allow for varied poses beyond simple weapon-holding positions and are particularly useful for reproducing the Gundam ZERO's highly expressive gestures on screen.

The first Gundam of the new RG Project universe

Mobile Suit Gundam RG XARX-ZERO constitutes the animation branch of the new RG Project, developed in parallel with GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT. Both works share the same universe and the same After Apocalypse timeline, but present this period from different characters and points of view.

The Gundam ZERO thus occupies a particularly important place: it represents the main Mobile Suit of the anime and one of the first machines allowing fans to discover this new Gundam continuity.

About Gunpla and Plamo

Gunpla (Gundam Plastic Model) and Plamo (Plastic Model) refer to the famous Japanese assembly models, which have become an essential reference for model-making enthusiasts, science fiction fans, and Japanese culture aficionados. Popularized by Bandai's Mobile Suit Gundam license, Gunpla now includes hundreds of models inspired by the most emblematic Gundam series, films, and universes.

Beyond Gundam, the world of Plamo brings together many ranges produced by renowned manufacturers such as Bandai, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Wave, and Aoshima. Robots, mechs, characters, creatures, vehicles, or original universes, Japanese model kits offer an assembly experience accessible to both beginners and experienced modelers.

Most modern kits are designed to be assembled without glue thanks to a high-precision snap-fit system. Depending on the range, models can also offer advanced articulation, interchangeable accessories, visual effects, decals, and numerous customization possibilities using paint, panel lining, or modeling tools.

Among the most popular ranges are Gunpla Gundam, the RG (Real Grade), MG (Master Grade), HG (High Grade), PG (Perfect Grade) series, but also the 30 Minutes Missions (30MM), 30 Minutes Fantasy (30MF), Figure-rise Standard, Moderoid, Frame Arms, Hexa Gear, Megami Device universes, and many other references from the world of Plamo.

Whether you're looking for your first Gunpla, a collectible Gundam model, or a more technical Japanese model kit, Plamo is a fascinating hobby that combines construction, creativity, collecting, and display through increasingly detailed and innovative models.

Gunpla & Plamo FAQ

Do you need glue to assemble a Gunpla?

Most modern Gunpla and Plamo are designed to be assembled without glue, thanks to an interlocking parts system.

Should you paint a Gunpla?

No. Bandai kits and most Japanese models are molded in colors close to the final rendering. Painting remains optional.

Which Gunpla should I choose to start with?

HG (High Grade) and Entry Grade lines are generally the most accessible for beginners assembling Gundam models.

What is the difference between HG, RG, MG, and PG?

Grades correspond to the level of detail, size, and complexity of the kit. HGs are the simplest, while PGs represent the most detailed models.

What is a Plamo?

The term Plamo is a contraction of "Plastic Model" in Japan. It encompasses Gundam Gunpla as well as many other models produced by Bandai, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, and other manufacturers.

How long does it take to build a Gunpla?

Depending on the model, assembly can take between one hour for an Entry Grade and several tens of hours for some Master Grade or Perfect Grade models.

What tools are recommended for assembly?

A hobby side cutter, a precision knife, and files or abrasives are the most commonly used tools to achieve a clean result.
