The HG 1/144 GN-003 Gundam Kyrios by Bandai reproduces one of the four main Gundams from the first season of Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Piloted by Allelujah Haptism within Celestial Being, the Kyrios stands out for its specialization in high-speed combat and especially for its ability to transform from a humanoid Mobile Suit into a Flight Form dedicated to rapid movement and aerial attacks.

Initially released in November 2007, this High Grade is one of the first 1/144 kits dedicated to Gundam 00. It still holds particular interest today thanks to its design, which is very different from other Celestial Being Gundams, with its slender silhouette, large orange and white surfaces, and transformable configuration.

Transformation into Flight Form

The main gimmick of the HG Gundam Kyrios is its ability to switch from MS Mode to Flight Mode. The transformation uses several body movements as well as some dedicated parts at the hips to correctly lock the flight configuration. The dorsal stabilizers deploy, the shoulders pivot, and the legs are repositioned to recreate the Kyrios' characteristic aerodynamic profile.

Once transformed, the model adopts a long and thin silhouette that perfectly reflects the Kyrios' role: a Gundam designed for speed, interception, and lightning attacks. In the series, this configuration allows it to fully exploit its mobility and execute high-speed strikes before disengaging quickly.

GN Beam Submachine Gun

The Kyrios' primary weapon is the GN Beam Submachine Gun, a compact double-barreled rifle designed to maintain good accuracy even during high-speed maneuvers. On the kit, it can be used as a handheld weapon or be attached directly to the forearm thanks to a dedicated connection piece.

This configuration allows the weapon to remain mounted on the Gundam in both MS Mode and Flight Mode, in line with its operation observed in Gundam 00.

GN Shield transformable into a claw

The GN Shield is probably the most iconic gimmick of the kit after the transformation. Its end can be opened and rearranged to form an offensive claw, used in the series as a true melee weapon.

A piece representing the GN Shield Needle can be installed in the center of the claw to reproduce the piercing weapon concealed within the shield. In the Gundam 00 universe, this function is particularly associated with Hallelujah, Allelujah's other personality, who uses the Kyrios much more aggressively in close combat.

Beam Sabers integrated into the rear skirt

The Gundam Kyrios also features two GN Beam Sabers stored in the rear part of the skirt. The hilts can be removed and placed in the model's hands to reproduce close-combat configurations. On this generation of HG, the hilts are included but the translucent effect blades are not provided with the standard kit.

A design typical of early HG Gundam 00 kits

The kit uses an articulated polycap structure typical of High Grades from the late 2000s. The shoulders have good range, the elbows can exceed approximately a right angle, and the legs allow for satisfactory combat poses for a design of this generation.

The model is molded in the Kyrios' main colors, including white, orange, gray, yellow, and red, with stickers intended to complete certain sensors and small details. As with most Gunpla, assembly relies on Bandai's Snap-Fit system and does not require glue.

It also constitutes a logical choice to complete Celestial Being's original quartet alongside the Exia, Dynames, and Virtue.

About Gunpla and Plamo

Gunpla (Gundam Plastic Model) and Plamo (Plastic Model) refer to the famous Japanese assembly models, which have become an essential reference for model-making enthusiasts, science fiction fans, and Japanese culture aficionados. Popularized by Bandai's Mobile Suit Gundam license, Gunpla now includes hundreds of models inspired by the most emblematic Gundam series, films, and universes.

Beyond Gundam, the world of Plamo brings together many ranges produced by renowned manufacturers such as Bandai, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Wave, and Aoshima. Robots, mechs, characters, creatures, vehicles, or original universes, Japanese model kits offer an assembly experience accessible to both beginners and experienced modelers.

Most modern kits are designed to be assembled without glue thanks to a high-precision snap-fit system. Depending on the range, models can also offer advanced articulation, interchangeable accessories, visual effects, decals, and numerous customization possibilities using paint, panel lining, or modeling tools.

Among the most popular ranges are Gunpla Gundam, the RG (Real Grade), MG (Master Grade), HG (High Grade), PG (Perfect Grade) series, but also the 30 Minutes Missions (30MM), 30 Minutes Fantasy (30MF), Figure-rise Standard, Moderoid, Frame Arms, Hexa Gear, Megami Device universes, and many other references from the world of Plamo.

Whether you're looking for your first Gunpla, a collectible Gundam model, or a more technical Japanese model kit, Plamo is a fascinating hobby that combines construction, creativity, collecting, and display through increasingly detailed and innovative models.

Gunpla & Plamo FAQ

Do you need glue to assemble a Gunpla?

Most modern Gunpla and Plamo are designed to be assembled without glue, thanks to an interlocking parts system.

Should you paint a Gunpla?

No. Bandai kits and most Japanese models are molded in colors close to the final rendering. Painting remains optional.

Which Gunpla should I choose to start with?

HG (High Grade) and Entry Grade lines are generally the most accessible for beginners assembling Gundam models.

What is the difference between HG, RG, MG, and PG?

Grades correspond to the level of detail, size, and complexity of the kit. HGs are the simplest, while PGs represent the most detailed models.

What is a Plamo?

The term Plamo is a contraction of "Plastic Model" in Japan. It encompasses Gundam Gunpla as well as many other models produced by Bandai, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, and other manufacturers.

How long does it take to build a Gunpla?

Depending on the model, assembly can take between one hour for an Entry Grade and several tens of hours for some Master Grade or Perfect Grade models.

What tools are recommended for assembly?

A hobby side cutter, a precision knife, and files or abrasives are the most commonly used tools to achieve a clean result.
