MG 1/100 - RX-77-2 Guncannon

Discover one of the three iconic Mobile Suits from Operation V with the Gunpla MG 1/100 RX-77-2 Guncannon by Bandai Spirits. Directly from Mobile Suit Gundam, the Guncannon is a medium-range support machine developed by the Earth Federation and notably piloted by Kai Shiden aboard the White Base.

Initially released in December 2001, this model bears the number MG 045 in the Master Grade line. Its 1/100 scale construction reproduces the massive silhouette of the Guncannon with its characteristic red armor, reinforced shoulders, and two imposing weapons mounted on its back.

The kit offers two configurations for the back armament: the iconic 240mm cannons can be replaced by a pair of Spray Missile Launchers. This modularity allows for the representation of both the classic Guncannon appearance and its configuration equipped for barrage fire.

The Core Block System is also reproduced. A transformable FF-X7 Core Fighter can be folded to integrate into the Mobile Suit's torso, while an additional fixed Core Block is provided so that the Core Fighter can be displayed simultaneously next to the Guncannon.

Bandai also includes specially designed hands to reproduce the Guncannon's famous lying down firing position. Combined with its articulation and Beam Rifle, they allow for the recreation of several iconic scenes from the original series.

Technical Specifications

The MG RX-77-2 Guncannon incorporates a true Core Block System. The FF-X7 Core Fighter can transform from its flight configuration to a compact form allowing its installation inside the torso.

An additional fixed Core Block is also provided. This allows the latter to remain inside the Guncannon while separately displaying the Core Fighter in airplane configuration with its landing gear.

The panels located on the legs can be opened to access the two grenades stored in the armor. The kit also includes a second pair of open hands specifically for reproducing the prone position used by the Guncannon when performing artillery fire.

Zone Gunpla Tips

The MG Guncannon is an older generation Master Grade, but it retains several particularly interesting features: transformable Core Fighter, interchangeable back armament, and the genuine ability to reproduce the famous lying firing pose.

Its red armor and relatively clean, large surfaces are also ideal for panel lining, markings, and weathering. Combined with the MG RX-78-2 Gundam and Guntank, it allows for the recreation of the iconic machines from Operation V and the White Base.
