MG 1/100 - RX-78-2 Gundam 'Ver.Ka'

The legendary RX-78-2 Gundam joins the Master Grade lineup in this MG 1/100 Ver.Ka version, a reinterpretation of the iconic Mobile Suit from Mobile Suit Gundam by the renowned mechanical designer Hajime Katoki.

Initially released in 2002, this kit holds a special place in Gunpla history as it is the first Master Grade to be commercialized under the Ver.Ka designation. This version features revised proportions, a slimmer silhouette, and mechanical lines characteristic of Hajime Katoki's style.

The model includes the RX-78-2's iconic armament with a Beam Rifle, an Hyper Bazooka, a shield, and two Beam Sabers. The Beam Rifle has a movable foregrip and scope, while the Hyper Bazooka can be attached to the back of the waist when not in use.

The kit also integrates the famous Core Block System. The included Core Fighter can be fully transformed to fit inside the Gundam's torso. An alternative cockpit block also allows the Core Fighter to be displayed separately while keeping the RX-78-2 assembled.

Like all Ver.Ka models, this edition places significant emphasis on visual details and markings. The numerous stickers and dry transfer decals allow for the reproduction of the technical and military aesthetic characteristic of Hajime Katoki's designs.

Zone Gunpla Tips

This RX-78-2 Ver.Ka, dating from 2002, uses an older design than recent Master Grades, notably with several polycaps and screws integrated into the internal structure. Take your time to carefully follow the instructions during assembly to maintain good joint mobility.

The numerous panel lines and markings characteristic of the Ver.Ka style make this kit an excellent base for panel lining. A light gray on the white parts helps bring out the details without too much contrast with the original design.

Dry transfer decals require more precision than classic stickers. Position them carefully before transferring them and avoid lifting the sheet before applying even pressure over the entire design.
