Haro

Haro

Haro (or Halo) has become over the different series and other supports an essential mascot of Gundam.

Appeared for the first time in Mobile Suit Gundam in 1979, he will never leave the saga and will be present in many Gundam works.

He will also have the privilege of having his own line of Gunpla.

Here is the list of his appearances.

Universal Century

Mobile Suit Gundam

In MS Gundam, haro is a robot created by Amuro Ray based on a SUN Corporation mascot robot released in UC 0078. Spherical in shape, fluorescent green in color with two red eyes, it measures 40 cm in diameter. It has 4 limbs: 2 arms and 2 legs. We see him using them in the first episode, the rest of the time he just rolls or floats while flapping his wings. He doesn't talk much and often says “haro genki” (haro is happy). He spends most of his time with the three children who are aboard White Base: Kikka, Katz and Letz. It also happens that Fraw Bow takes his nerves on him! Amuroen will offer a customized version of Fraw, with improved AI and the ability to measure brain waves.

At the end of the One Year War, factories will mass-produce a simplified version of the original haro to sell as a toy, also a mascot of the Colony Public Corporation who will serve as a narrator and act as a GPS for the inhabitants of the colony.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam

It is during episode 8 that Camille Bidan finds a haro by chance. The inert robot “saves” her life, since falling, it ricochets the bullet that was intended for Camille. The latter tries to restore it but haro keeps calling him Amuro! But it's not the original haro because this one has no legroom and it has a square hatch on the front. Moreover Quattro Bagina explains to Camille that these haro are sold in toy stores. Haro often wanders around the Argama ship in the company of Fa Yuiry or the children, Shinta and Qum. The same haro will also appear in Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam.

Mobile Suit Gundam Char's Counterattack

We only see haro when Amuro picks it up at the Londenion settlement on Side 1 (he asks a damsel if haro has been recharged). He gives it to Hathaway Noa, the son of Brigth Noa and explains to him that it is a third generation model. As usual, haro spends his time floating in the air, while flapping his wings. However, this model has two circles in its lower part, so we can deduce that it has legs.

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn

The model Banagher Links has is actually a toy, the massively sold replica of Amuro Ray's model. The haro will be entrusted to Banagher's friend, Micott Bartsch.

Mobile Suit Crossbone Gundam

This time it's a small robotic parrot named Haro, he has a different behavior from other haro.

Mobile Suit Gundam Victory

In this series, haro is still green and round, but he has more abilities than his predecessors. He can project images through a kind of soap bubble that he created himself: for example, he projected images of Uso as a child, with his parents. He often helps humans who need help. This model has neither legs nor arms but it can be opened in two as if it had a beak, it is also thanks to this beak that it clings to objects. In episode 18, he will be improved and will be able to throw a grappling hook. He moves by jumping when he is on Earth, otherwise in space, he has a reserve of air to be able to propel himself. Most of the time he is with Shakti and her dog Flanders. We can say that he is a little more talkative and intelligent than the other haro, he will also pilot a V Gundam alone.

Correct Century

In Turn A Gundam the Haro are used for security, with technology based on that of the Mobile Suit Gundam F91 Bugs.

Cosmic Era

Gundam SEED

Here there is not one haro but a multitude, all different, Orange, Pink, Yellow, Blue, Green, etc... they all have a different personality. They were created by Asran Zala (who is said to have made a total of 35 from the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Club Yonkoma parody) who gifted them to Lacus Clyne. They

are even more different from UC's Haros in size which is about ¼ the size of Amuro Ray's green Haros. They have slots for the arms and legs, but we don't see them using them, however they have the "wings", an essential element found on any Haros, whether from the Universal Century or the Cosmic Era. The one Lacus most often holds in her hands is pink, she nicknames it "Mr. Pink" or "Pinky".

Gundam SEED Destiny

We still see the Lacus haros, with a new kid on the block, the red haro that Meer Campbell is bringing with her. Unlike the other haros in the series, which in their original version speak Japanese, this red haro speaks English. He is also nicknamed "Mister Red". It is not known, however, what becomes of this haro when Meer dies, but it is assumed that it is in the possession of Lacus and that it is with the other haro.

Anno Domini

Haro also features in Gundam 00, this time at his original size. Unlike Gundam SEED, Haro is more useful, it is always made in several copies and has a much more developed artificial intelligence than its illustrious predecessors. In the series we mainly see three Haro employed by Celestial Being, they are mainly used for maintenance by connecting to exoskeletons (Karel) to give them arms and tools, but they are a total of 28 haros aboard the Ptolemy. The Haro Orange is used by Lockon Stratos as a co-pilot in the Gundam Dynames, then the Gundam Cherudim, it is responsible for managing the defensive systems of the MS and informs of the status of the various systems, the small

robot will even show affection for its fellow pilot, displaying humor and showing signs of sadness upon losing its first partner. The Haro Rose appears in season 2 mainly, it is used as the management terminal of the 00 Raiser in duo with Saji Crossroad. The Haro Violet was discovered 70 years before the series in the vicinity of Jupiter by the Linear Train Company, it had in its memory the technical data for the design of the GN Drive Tau, it is used as an assistance terminal by the team Trinity and accompanies Nena Trinity.

There is also a yellow Haro in the manga, it is recognizable (besides its yellow color) by its cat ear fins. This Haro, also called Hanayo, turns out to be an alter-ego of Gundam Meister 874.

Advanced-Generation

The Haro seen in Mobile Suit Gundam AGE was created by Flit Asuno. It uses the same color scheme as the UC Haro, it turns out to be in

rather elastic materials, and is able to jump up to a Mobile Suit cockpit. It has a "PC" mode allowing it to be used as a computer, and it can connect to the AGE System. He will follow the Asuno family throughout the series, passing from generation to generation.

Regild Century

Gundam Reconquista in G offers a small robot that looks a lot like Haro, he is called Nobel. It is more mobile, opens in two and little

t thus use the two parts as wheels, it is used to control the environment around it. He is called Nobel after the main characters Bellri and his friend Noredo.

Ad Stella

The series The Witch from Mercury presents haros, these small robots have the same size as that of Amuro Ray. They have various colors and are used as a terminal, GPS, and are often represented on small mobile modules.

Build Universe or Build Metaverse

Gundam Build Fighters

In this series Haro appears as a mascot and objects, not as a character. He is the mascot during the Gunpla World Championship. It is also Iori Sei's alarm clock and a badge used by Iori and his mom.

Gundam Build Divers

Here Haro is used as an Avatar in the virtual world of GBN (Gunpla Battle Nexus) on the Gunpla Nexus Online. Momoka Yashiro will take his first steps as Haro on the game, it is indeed a "skin" that is used for users who take their first step as a guest on GBN. This Avatar can be personalized, Momoka will thus wear cat ears which will be offered to her by Magee as a welcome gift and will be pink (thus recalling Lacus Clyne's Haro by Hanayo's color and design). Another character will use a Haro Avatar, Tsukasa Shiba, with a dark blue Haro.

SD Universe

SD Gundam Force

In Superior Defender Gundam Force, "Chief Haro" is the leader of the SDG, who wears a Haro helmet to mask his true identity. Although he cannot "fly" like his toy counterpart, his "wings" allow him to raise his cap from time to time.

A large Haro with the same cap as Chief Haro can also be seen attached to the Re-Equip Ring in the series. It also has two large wings mounted on its sides, similar to those of the Medea Transport from the original Gundam series.

SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden and SD Gundam World Heroes

In SD Gundam World Sangoku Soketsuden, the Green Haro appeared as a family heirloom with mystical powers, belonging to Lui Bei Unicorn Gundam, passed down from his ancestors. With the threat of the Etiolation Trinity growing, Zhuge Liang Freedom Gundam notes that Haro's power is that of the dragon, as evidenced by the dragon symbol on Haro when it glows. Haro has a bond with Liu Bei, granting the Dragon Power Gundam and allowing Haro to grant Liu Bei the Memory of the Dragon, the weapon Soen Gekiryuha, and the awakened form of Liu Bei Long Xian Liu Bei Unicorn Gundam.

In SD Gundam World Heroes, Sanzang Strike Freedom Gundam revealed that Liu Bei's Haro is one of five items called OOParts, and the other four are located in World Regina, World Knight, World Neo, and World Pirates. Only with the power of the five Haros can Liu Bei and his allies fight the destructive force that threatens to destroy their world. Zhou Yu Akatsuki notes that, like Liu Bei, the remaining four Haros are attracted to noble and selfless people. It was later revealed in a text from Arsene's Collection Gundam X that the five Haros each possess different powers and select those worthy through a certain virtue; the Green Haro is drawn to Liu Bei Unicorn Gundam due to his boundless courage.

The Orange Haro of the Pirate World is attracted to those who value friendship over personal gain. Sun Jian Gundam Astray and Sun Quan Gundam Astray joined Benjamin V2 Gundam and Edward Second V of the Pirate World to find the orange Haro, who slumbers in the Palace of Almalechal by the ghost of Anne Bonita, who sought Haro to become King of the Pirates but was tempted by her own greed and killed her friends before dying herself. Anne's ghost tried to force Sun Jian to do the same by killing her son and his friends, but thanks to their strong friendship, Sun Jian attacked them all, freeing her from her torment and awakening the orange Haro.

Neo World's Blue Haro lay dormant in the Neo World Museum Warehouse and is considered a symbol of Captain City. Arsene Gundam X leads his new apprentice Zhao Yun 00 Gundam, Liu Bei Unicorn Gundam, Zhuge Liang Freedom Gundam, and Wukong Impulse Gundam to retrieve the Haro, but Zhao Yun accidentally drops it, which breaks. It is later revealed that the Blue Haro is attracted to those with a virtuous heart, as seen in Arsène Gundam X, who revealed to Sergeant Verde Buster Gundam that all of the museum's artifacts and his own collection were stolen from other countries, which reawakened and restored the Blue Haro.

The Knight World Haro resides in Castle Camelot and is in the possession of Arthur Gundam Mk-III, while the Pink Haro is found in an unknown location in Regina World.

In video games

In video games based on the Gundam license, Haro often appears as a navigator or a support unit.

In SD Gundam G Generation, Haro makes frequent appearances as a hidden unit and guarding great power. Like the "Psycho Haro" capable of destroying a fleet in a single turn, or the Ultimate Berserker Haro, being the size of a planet.

In Super Robot Wars, Haro is one of the most important upgrade pieces, improving agility and mobility when equipped.

In the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games it will have different functions depending on the game. It will be an improvement part (again) to be recovered in the first opus, a mission in the second, and an operator in the third. He will become an unlockable ally in Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn, he will pilot the Musha Gundam or the Knight Gundam depending on the map.

In the Gundam Versus and Extreme Vs games, he is a selectable operator, he is also present on the loading screens.

Did you know?

  • He does not make any concrete appearances in the Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS series, just a small cameo in the last episode, we see him in the background behind Dane Uhai and Zack Lowe.
  • It will be used by Bandai as a small mascot to boost sales, in addition to its own range of Gunpla (Haropla) it is also sold as a plush, puzzle, Gashapon ball and toy. There is indeed a Haro radio-controlled toy.
