The RG 1/144 RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type from Bandai Spirits brings one of the iconic Mobile Suits from Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team to the Real Grade line. Designed for the Federation's ground operations, the Gundam Ground Type features a modern construction combining a detailed internal structure, extensive color separation, and numerous mechanisms directly inspired by the anime.

The RX-79[G] is a ground combat Mobile Suit developed from parts originating from the RX-78 program. Produced in limited quantities with components whose performance did not meet the extremely strict requirements of the RX-78-2, it nevertheless retains particularly high power and armor. In The 08th MS Team, it is notably associated with Shiro Amada and the Federation's operations on the Southeast Asian front.

For this RG version, Bandai Spirits adopts a design philosophy similar to the RG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0, with extremely detailed outer armor and significant part separation. The various shades molded directly into the plastic enhance the mechanical and military appearance of the Gundam Ground Type without requiring paint.

The internal structure has been specially developed to maintain excellent stability despite the Mobile Suit's substantial equipment. The leg joints, in particular, allow for convincing reproduction of the kneeling poses characteristic of The 08th MS Team, even when the Gundam carries its imposing Weapon Container on its back.

One of the key elements of the kit is precisely the dorsal Weapon Container. It reproduces its functionality as seen in the anime: weapons can be disassembled and stored inside, while a sliding mechanism allows the internal support loaded with equipment to extend. The container can also be positioned to represent different deployment phases.

The arsenal is particularly complete with an 180mm cannon, a 100mm machine gun, a Beam Rifle, a Rocket Launcher, two Beam Sabers, and the distinctive shield of the Gundam Ground Type. The 180mm cannon can be separated into multiple elements for storage in the Weapon Container.

The Beam Sabers can be stored directly in the legs, reproducing the storage system specific to the RX-79[G]. The cockpit also features an opening hatch, adding an extra gimmick to the mechanical reproduction of the Mobile Suit.

Bandai Spirits also provides a display part specially designed for the shield. This allows the shield to be planted in the ground and, with the 180mm cannon, to reproduce the famous firing pose seen in the opening of The 08th MS Team, which has become one of the most iconic images of the Gundam Ground Type.

The kit also offers several customization details unique to the Real Grade, including alternative antenna parts and a sheet of Realistic Decals to further enhance its military appearance and surface detail.
